Merry Christmas Eve everyone!!! With this final post of the year comes my annual assessment of what I’ve read this past year, along with my reading goals for the year to come.
2023 saw even more children’s books on my list as my niece got her library card and took full advantage of it. I’ve been able to enjoy classics with her like Rainbow Fish and The Very Hungry Caterpillar, and we’ve discovered new (at least to me) favorites like Llama Llama and Don’t Feed the Coos! I’m sure 2024 will continue to see me reading plenty of children’s books with her.
I finished up the Grishaverse books early in the year, as I’d hoped, and even went back and re-read a couple. 2023 included several re-reads for me, actually, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I went back to a few favorites in 2024 as well.
I’ve got a couple of sequels at the top of my to-read list for 2024, including For the Throne, the second installment in Hannah Whitten’s Wilderwood series, and A Curse For True Love, the third and final (I think) installment in Stephanie Garber’s Once Upon a Broken Heart series. And for the first time, the rest of my list is leaning a little more toward adult rather than young adult novels, though several still have fantasy elements, so my tastes aren’t really changing.
Finally, I’m hoping to work in a few non-fiction books to help develop my writing craft as well…we’ll see how that goes. I know it will be good for me, I just have so much more fun reading fiction!
