I finally made it through a problem scene last week! I still don’t know that I love the scene by itself, but it now does what I need it to with a more continuous flow to and from the scenes around it. Not only that, but with the problem scene out of the way, I was able to finalize changes to the scenes following it and complete that draft. Woo-hoo!
I’m making myself sit with the draft a little longer before moving on to the next phase (getting some feedback from beta readers), and switching gears to work on a related, but different project for a few weeks. Then I’ll go back to the completed draft, and if fresh eyes don’t reveal any lingering issues, I’ll start organizing my beta readers. You want your beta readers opening your eyes to new things you wouldn’t have thought of, not getting hung up on little things you could have caught yourself if you hadn’t been impatient!
In other news from the past 2 weeks, my nephew is now a pro at rolling over!
