The past couple of weeks have been fun for my family. Last weekend we all met up at the zoo for Mother’s Day, where I learned that my niece likes snakes, and my nephew was more excited to feed goats than giraffes. He’s also finding his voice more and more, which is mostly adorable as he repeats new words and phrases (I really enjoyed his attempt at “upsy-daisy”), though it has added another level to his reaction when he can’t have his way. And then this weekend, I stayed with my parents, along with the niblings, and we enjoyed a new splash pad, made a pie, took lawn mower rides, and other little start-of-summer things.
This fun has timed out well with my writing break, and I’m planning to keep my recent project shut away until June at least. I think that should be a decent amount of time to allow me to see it through fresh eyes. Fresh enough, anyways. I’m keeping myself busy with other things in the meantime, trying to sharpen my query letter and synopsis for the “finished” project.
And if I really feel like keeping busy, I could always finish spring-cleaning.
