Odds & Ends 1/9-1/22

The past couple of weeks have been all about trying to find a balanced routine & keeping up my writing rhythm. I’ve found I’m more successful at that with smaller, short-term goals that let me measure progress with my writing while still allowing me to step away and get things done in other areas of my life without that guilty feeling of “you should be writing…”

I’m also trying to streamline and organize my notes in the hopes of expediting my next round of editing, but we’ll have to wait and see if that’s going to be successful. I’m overhauling my world-building, so there are lots of small adjustments to both character and place names that will have to kept straight. It is kind of fun though, to see fictional communities take shape and gain specificity, and to be able to look at a name in my notes and know, “Oh, that town name doesn’t sound at all like this country—but it does fit nicely over here.”

As for tonight, I’ll be enjoying the latest episode of All Creatures Great and Small on PBS. If you haven’t tried this show, I heartily recommend it. It’s a feel-good classic for all ages, and a great way to wind down after a productive day!
