Though it might sound a little odd to say at only the end of April, this week marked the arrival of summer for me. The weather even cooperated and finally started acting at least springlike, with a string of 60 and 70 degree days uninterrupted by the threat of random snow showers.
But more than that, the busy season at my day job ends tomorrow, marking a change to our summer hours and more writing time at home for me (yay!). I’m hoping that with a little more free time on my hands, I can pick up the pace on editing and start sending that project out. With that underway, I can start researching and outlining my next idea, which has been buzzing around my brain for a while now, threatening to distract me, since I find planning & writing much more fun than editing.
This week also included the arrival of the first “summer” blockbuster of the year, Avengers: Infinity War, which I actually saw on opening weekend (I hardly ever manage to pull that off. I technically still haven’t seen all of Captain America: Winter Soldier, much to my brother’s disappointment.), sparing me the temptation of reading the spoiler-ridden reviews first (I’ll be writing my own next week). If it’s any indication of what the rest of blockbuster season will hold, I’m excited.
So, yeah, while it might seem a little early for most, I am happy to get started on my summer now.
