Writing week 4 was, expectedly, mostly confined to the first half of the week. On Thursday and Friday I took a vacation from National Novel Writing Month to spend time with my family and eat a lot of delicious food for Thanksgiving, as well as binge-watch Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life (which also involved my family and a lot of delicious food).
I have all kinds of thoughts on the return of the Gilmores, more than I could possibly sort through right now, but after 48 hours of digesting the show and hearing others’ reactions and reviews, there are two themes I keep coming back to: the effects of fan service and the pros and cons of locking yourself into a certain ending as a writer.
I expect it will take at least one more viewing and a little more time to explore and organize these thoughts, so a full review will have to wait until after November.
In the meantime, I am thankful I got to take a return trip to Stars Hollow, even if it wasn’t a perfect trip, as well as for a little food for thought on my own writing.
